The Piano Lesson: Denzel Washington’s sons on taking post-slavery America play to big screen

Actor Denzel Washington has drawn on the work of black playwright August Wilson for two of his films, transforming ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ and ‘Fences’ into award winning movies.
Now he’s turned to a third play, The Piano Lesson, which won its author the Pulitzer prize for its tale of life in post-slavery America. Washington’s oldest son John David plays the lead, while his youngest son Malcolm is directing.
The Washington brothers have been speaking to Symeon Brown.
